What is a gizmo??

A gizmo is a device or small machine which performs a particular task, usually in a new and efficient way. People often use gizmo to refer to a device or machine when they do not know what it is really called.

Other Guitar Gizmos

The Gizmotron (a.k.a. Gizmo) was an effects device for the electric guitar, invented ca. 1973 by the English rock musicians Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, whilst they were members of the British rock group 10cc. The Gizmo first featured on 10cc's instrumental "Gizmo My Way", where it is played as an interesting slide guitar effect amidst a type of laid back beach music. The Gizmo was a small box attached to the bridge of the guitar, consisted of six small motor-driven wheels with serrated edges that gave a “bowed” effect. Very few Guitar Gizmotrons were actually made, although a bass versions was produced in larger quantities. Almost no working Gizmos have survived the 35+ years since they were made, as the Gizmo wheels and other parts were made of a Durlin (a type of plastic) that breaks over time, even when well cared for.

Gizmo is also the name if the original Mogwai creature in the 1984 movie Gremlins. It's not known whether he can play the guitar!
